“For almost 10 years, Doug has provided his expertise in managing complex financial portfolios. He has shown his dedication to the mission of NAHT, its partners and the residents at our properties across the country;” stated Jim Bowman, NAHT’s President and CEO. He continued, “As the CFO, Doug will lead the Finance team and provide operational support that aligns with our mission of financing the preservation and creation of quality affordable rental homes for all people in need. We are excited about this next phase for NAHT with Doug at its helm.”
During his tenure at NAHT, Doug has created structure and continuity in accounting and finance of the organization along with enhancing or establishing policies and procedures. Building on his prior LIHTC syndicator experience, he also aided in revamping investor reporting and the audit/tax process and provides a strong understanding of the industry.
Mr. Bates commented on his promotion to CFO, “I never envisioned my career would lead me into the non-profit arena, but NAHT has provided fulfillment and many opportunities over the past 9 years. I feel blessed to be a part of it and in working along-side all the wonderful people at NAHT and its affiliates. As CFO, I will have the honor of leading NAHT’s dedicated team of financial experts. I’m excited about the opportunity and look forward to being a leader in NAHT’s growth, long-term goals and continued support of our mission.”
Mr. Bates has over 20 years of experience in financial management, operations and affordable housing. Prior to joining NAHT, he served as Accounting Manager for Paramount Financial Group and as Controller for Heritage Development Company. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from Youngstown State University and earned his Masters of Business Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He is an active member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
